Rochester Handbook:
Our final project is to make a “Rochester Handbook for New
ALI Students”. The purpose of this book
is to provide useful information for new ALI students while they live in
Rochester. Your experience in Rochester will help new ALI students have a fun,
interesting and comfortable life here in Rochester. Each topic/information does
not need to be long, but it must be two-three short paragraphs including the
information below.
- pictures,
- details (business hours, website, phone number, address,
costs etc...)
- highlight of the place, the reason why you recommend the
place, why it’s important, personal experience, etc.
Did you pick the topic/information
you want to write? If not, please read the information below.
The information that we are going to include in the book is
below. Please check the lists and decide what information/topic you would like
to write about. Once you choose three
topics/information you would like to write about, please let us know. If there
is an initial next to the topic/information, it means that your classmates have
already chosen the topic and started to write about it. In other words, you
can’t choose a topic someone else is doing. “First come, first served.” If you
have some other information you would like to write about, please let us know.

Eastman House)
Highlights of the Zoo
It was exciting to see the polar bear. They’re usually in their cave, so it was a
treat to see one out. The polar bear’s
habitat at the zoo has a swimming pool with glass so you can see them under
water. The bear didn’t swim while I was
there, though. I wonder how they cope
with such hot weather.
Today’s Vocabulary
There will be two or three quizzes based on the vocabulary
words you learned in class. We will let you know about each quiz a week before
we have it.
